Our story began in 1906 with a horse-drawn wagon. William Fitz Donovan launched a local food delivery enterprise in Birmingham, Alabama, but after seeing unprecedented success in a specific niche of his business, 'Donovan Provision Company' quickly converted into a premier maker and provider of quality coffees and teas. As a nod to a vision of excellence and innovation, in 1908 William Fitz Donovan named his coffee after the highest quality gem in existence: a Red Diamond. Our family’s unwavering commitment to providing our customers with the highest quality coffee and tea has continued for over 112 years and through 5 generations.

Just like a fine wine, the taste of coffee is the product of the soil, climate, and altitude at which it’s grown. Our coffee is selected from only high altitudes to provide the most flavorful and balanced product. We only accept new harvest beans? we never use past crop, old or distressed beans in Red Diamond. The beans are nurtured with extreme care, hand-picked, and sundried using nature’s gentle heat to create a sweet, rich, flavor and aroma. Our blends are small batch roasted using the world-renown Scolari Roaster. Imported from Italy, the roaster uses convection heat so our beans are never scorched. Why would we go through all the hassle of selecting the finest coffee beans if we’re not going to roast it that way?
