The Fresh Roasted Coffee process begins at the source. Our coffees are chosen and established with great love and greater yet - consideration of origin, flavor profile and quality. All of these components help us to deliver consistent, exceptional coffee with true approachability.

Our unroasted organic Sumatra coffee is excellent at nearly any roast level due to its low acidity and flavorful body. To roast this green coffee to its prime, we suggest anywhere from a medium to dark roast level. Experiment with roast temperatures to increase body and boldness of flavor.

Our unroasted coffee selections are intended for roasting purposes. We do not recommend consuming unroasted coffee.

The Koperasi Pedagang Kopi Ketiara is a women-run cooperative that has over 890 grower-members. The Ketiara Cooperative was started in 2008 by Ibu Rahmah, the current chairwoman, who had operated and managed her family’s coffee business for 20 years-purchasing cherries, processing the green, and selling to local traders.

The passion and commitment of the women managers to have all members working together in support of coffee production has enabled Ketiara to expand and become an important supplier to larger coffee traders in Medan, the capital of North Sumatra. The cooperative members voted to become Organic and Fair Trade certified in 2012, making a commitment to use these proceeds to create programs for health, education, and public infrastructure projects that will benefit all coop members.

We procure our coffees with the utmost care and integrity, seeking to find high quality specialty coffees that help reinforce our core value of sustainability, while also supporting regions all over the world that are actively working to enhance their own livelihoods and the specialty coffee industry.

We want our customers to experience fresh coffee at its peak drinkability so our coffee beans are roasted fresh and immediately packaged. In order to keep our coffee as fresh as possible for as long as possible, our resealable coffee bags and single-serve coffee pods are filled using nitrogen insufflation to avoid exposing the freshly ground coffee to flavor-stealing oxygen.
